Julie Wakefield

Julie Wakefield taught Spanish and Geography at McQueen High School in Reno, NV for 25 years. She introduced an Honors 9th grade level Geography and the AP Human Geography to the school. Additionally over the years, she taught World History, American Government, Freshman Seminar and Reading for Pleasure.

Julie is a Nevada Geographic Alliance Teacher Consultant, 2016 NCGE Distinguished Geography Teacher Award winner, an AP Human Geography consultant and attends the AP Reading annually. Julie is the Recording Secretary for the National Council for Geographic Education Board (NCGE) and is the Professional Development Coordinator for NCGE. Additionally, Julie serves on two youth literature award committees, National Consortium for Teaching Asia and the Scholastic Asian Book Award. And because she has a lot of free time she teaches geography courses at the community college.

Julie has an undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada Reno, a Masters in Teaching and Learning from NOVA Southeastern University and a Masters in Geography Education from the University of Oregon.
