Meg Reynolds, an English teacher at Vel Phillips Memorial high school, has been in education for 3 years now. While pursuing their M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction through UW Madison, they quickly realized that literacy in the United States is an equity issue that could be explored and solved through cultivating curiosity. Meg believes curiosity is rooted in imagination, something that shines through in literature. Now a member of the Teaching Forward Fellowship at UW Madison, they spend much of their time outside the classroom investigating literacy through the lens of historically and culturally responsive pedagogy. As a member of the SABA reading committee, Meg hopes to dig deeper into multicultural literature and the ways in which these stories can build literacy in the K-12 classroom.
