Ellen Bunn

Ellen Bunn has been the K-8 librarian for 15 years at EAGLE School of Madison, where she previously served as a teacher of science and science and literature for the preceding five years. She has a passion for reading and sharing multicultural and global fiction and nonfiction for children and young adults. Ellen served on the 2016 and 2017 committees of the Cooperative Children’s Book Center’s Charlotte Zolotow Award (for picture book writing) and on the 2022 committee of the American Library Association’s Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award. She has a B.A. in Anthropology and Geology from the University of California at Davis, and M.A. degrees in Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley and in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has field experiences and publications in paleoanthropology and ethnoarchaeology in eastern and southern Africa, which have influenced her approach to literature written for children and young adults. Ellen looks forward to serving on the 2025 SABA Committee.
